** STOP PRESS – FISH n CHIP SUPPER & QUIZ NIGHT – 28th OCTOBER **

A Huge Thank You to the Inner Wheel Club of Redditch

Along with many charities we were unable to hold fund raising events during the pandemic. We are indebted, therefore, to the wonderful group of ladies from the Inner Wheel Club of Redditch, who supported the Charity, raising a most generous sum of money during the very difficult time of 2020-22. The members came up with a wonderful variety of ideas to raise money, from a swimathon, helicopter ride raffle, to an auction of promises, to name a few.

If any of our supporters know of a voluntary association or club who might consider supporting us with a fund raising event, however big or small, please do let us know. WSC Trustee Margaret Mandrell, who has visited the schools in Sierra Leone, would also be very happy to visit any organisations in the Worcestershire area to speak about the schools and the work we do. She is a very interesting speaker and has often been asked back to speak on a variety of subjects.

A Huge Thank You to our Supporters

The Charity is aware of the rising cost of living not only in the UK but also in Sierra Leone and we are carefully considering which projects we can afford to fund. It is only because of your continued generosity that we are able to do anything at all. We will do our utmost to support ongoing projects and are looking into a number of future projects.

Every Pound raised goes directly to the Waterloo Schools to continue the provision of education and welfare of staff and pupils. Thank you.

2021 / 2022 HIGHLIGHTS

Ongoing Projects

  • Provision of Rice
  • Salary Subsidies
  • Dr. Read Bursaries
  • Lunch Subsidies

New Projects

  • School uniform appeal
There is a total of 1395 pupils at primary and nursery school needing school uniform (the parents get no financial help). Can we APPEAL to our supporters to make a one off donation or our standing order subscribers to increase their regular donations by £5. £5 will provide a child with a set of uniform.
  • Sewing Machines
We are also collecting sewing machines in the UK to be shipped to Waterloo, hoping that a class in sewing and tailoring can be set up next year. If you have hand or treadle sewing machines that you would like to pass on, please contact us.
  • Playground equipment
All children love to play and our little ones at Zoe Carss Nursery are no exception. We are therefore looking to ship out pre-loved playground equipment early next year.
  • Completion of Toilets
At a recent Trustee Meeting it was agreed to fund the installation of a new pump to an existing well and completion of the toilets at the Zoe Carss Nursery.

Our thanks to the 3580 Kissitown Refugee Camp Project who have offered space in their container, which they plan to send out to Sierra Leone early next year. WSC Trustee Neil Morland will also be visiting the schools at Easter.
