Glenn Scott - Age: 19
I was born with a condition called Talipes (clubfeet). This is where I first met Laurie Read as he was my Surgeon who corrected the positioning of my feet.
In 2008 I caught up with Laurie who told me all about Waterloo Schools, it was from here I had my chance to give him something back for what an amazing chance he gave to me.
I have now been involved with Waterloo Schools Charity for 3 years and I am very proud to be one of their ambassadors, helping to organise charity events. This has included me taking part in a sponsored swim and being DJ at a Rod Stewart tribute evening.
I am a Disabled Athlete who competes in Paralympic Athletics in the 100mtr and 200mtr sprint events and I have been the national champion in both events for the past 4 years, I have competed at international level on numerous occasions.
With my experience and sports knowledge gained, I now help out in the community coaching both able and disabled Children in Athletics and Basketball.
I was nominated to be an Olympic Torch bearer for the 2012 London Games in September 2011 and had my confirmation in December 2011 to say I had been chosen.
I am yet to find out my leg of the relay, however the Olympic torch it set to come through Redditch and Astwood bank in the Midlands on July 1st, hopefully this will be my day to be part of a worldwide dream. This is a tremendous honour to me and hopefully I will be able to bring the torch along to charitable events, to raise more funds for Waterloo Schools.
I aim to visit Waterloo Schools in the near future and help share my sporting talents to inspire others to achieve as I have.
"We are not disabled by the disabilities we have, we are able with the abilities we have".
